How to use the pet QR code generator

This pet QR code generator makes a reference ID tag with your dog or cat’s name, a contact number and a useful note. Save a static QR as a PNG for a collar, harness or carrier. Start with the name and phone number, then optionally add an owner’s name and an extra message of up to 200 characters. Keep notes brief, such as an allergy or how to contact you if the pet is found. A QR tag does not prevent a pet from getting lost or guarantee its return.

The QR contains the information itself rather than a URL. A scanner that supports plain-text QR codes can read it offline, although built-in camera behavior varies by device. The tool does not send the entered details to a generation server or separately save them. Your contact information remains as readable text in the PNG and printed tag, so anyone scanning it can see it. Avoid unnecessary personal details such as your full home address. This tool has no location tracking or GPS feature.

Tips for attaching a QR pet tag

A QR tag can share contact details from a collar pendant, harness, carrier or walking bag. Use 2cm×2cm or more as a starting point for testing, or 3~4cm if space allows. Size alone does not guarantee a successful scan. Keep the white margin and check curved surfaces, glare and wear. Always scan the actual printed tag before use.

PNG dimensions and scan checks

The downloaded PNG is at least 1000px on each side. Its size is rounded up so every QR module uses a whole number of pixels; it is not always exactly 1000px. Keep the white margin, which is part of the code. Editing the name, contact or message disables the old download. Generate a new PNG, scan it and compare its contents with your input before printing.

Regenerate the tag when details change

This is a static QR code: the details are fixed in the image. An existing tag does not update automatically when your phone number or address changes. Generate a new image and replace every printed copy. Print sharply, using 300dpi or higher as a starting point, and verify the final size and scan result; a blurry or damaged print can fail to scan.

Use this free pet QR tag maker to enter contact details, generate an image, download a PNG and check how to attach it. The code is a supplementary contact tag. It does not replace a microchip, pet registration or any official identification required where you live.

FAQ

Do I need a special app to read the pet QR tag?

Use a camera or QR reader that supports plain-text QR codes. Built-in camera support and display vary by device and app. Reading the code does not need an internet connection because the information is in the QR itself, but test the printed tag with the phone you plan to use.

Are my contact details stored on a server?

The tool creates the QR in your current browser without sending the entered name, contact number or message to a generation server or saving them separately. However, the QR contains unencrypted plain text. Anyone with the image or access to scan the tag can read the details, so include only information you want to share.

Does the QR update automatically if my contact number changes?

No. This is a static QR code with details fixed in the image. If your phone number or address changes, generate a new QR and replace the printed tag.

How large should I print the QR tag?

Try 2cm×2cm or larger as an initial test size, or 3~4cm for a carrier or walking bag. The amount of text, print quality, surface and scanning device affect the size you need. Keep the white margin and scan a print at its final size before attaching it.

Can rain damage a QR sticker?

Ordinary paper is vulnerable to water. Clear tape, lamination or water-resistant labels can help protect it outdoors. Test scanning after adding the protective layer, and replace worn or damaged tags.
