How to use the unit converter

Measurements can use different units even when they describe the same quantity. Clothing dimensions may be in inches, property area in square meters, a US recipe in ounces and US gallons, and a weather report in Fahrenheit. This free unit converter puts length, weight, area, volume and temperature on one page. Changing the input or either unit updates the result immediately, making it easy to compare several destination units without opening another calculator.

Use inches/cm for product dimensions and pounds/kg for package weights or ingredient mass. Korean don and geun remain available for interpreting Korean precious-metal and food measurements; they are not local units for every country. The tool calculates from your input and its fixed conversion factors in your current browser. It does not save calculation entries or request a server calculation.

When this tool is needed

  • Convert clothing, shoe or monitor dimensions from inches to centimeters before comparing products.
  • Convert a parcel weight quoted in pounds to kilograms when checking delivery charges.
  • Interpret a US recipe: convert mass ounces to grams, US gallons to liters and Fahrenheit to Celsius.

Before converting

  • Convert only within the same category, such as length to length or weight to weight.
  • The Korean geun varies by product. This tool fixes one geun at 600g and does not automatically select another food-specific value.
  • A Korean property size quoted in pyeong may include common areas. Check whether the source describes private or supply area before comparing it.

How to use

  1. Choose length, weight, area, volume or temperature from the category selector.
  2. Type the number you want to convert in the input field.
  3. Select the source unit and the destination unit.
  4. Read the live result with its destination-unit name and the equation in the summary.
  5. Change just the destination unit to compare other units quickly.

Korean customary units: reference

Don and geun are Korean customary mass units; pyeong is a Korean customary area unit. They are outside the International System of Units (SI). This converter retains them to help interpret Korean measurements and converts them to grams, kilograms or square meters using the model factors shown here.

Input and unit-selection limits

Don, geun and pyeong are Korean customary units. The geun uses this tool’s 600g assumption; the tool cannot infer a different value from the product. A mass ounce and a fluid ounce measure different quantities and cannot be converted directly between categories. Converting grams to mL also requires density. Negative inputs are accepted, including Kelvin values below its physical lower limit: the tool converts the number without checking physical plausibility. Check that separately.

Temperature formulas and examples

Temperature conversion uses an offset as well as a scale factor. Celsius = (Fahrenheit − 32) × 5/9; Fahrenheit = Celsius × 9/5 + 32; Kelvin = Celsius + 273.15. A weather reading of 72°F is about 22°C, and 98.6°F converts to 37°C. Absolute zero, 0K, corresponds to −273.15°C. Choose the temperature category to apply the relevant formula rather than a simple mass or length ratio.

Precision and reference

This tool retains its original conversion constants. Some are rounded, including mile 1609.34m, pound 0.453592kg, ounce 0.0283495kg, square foot 0.092903m², acre 4046.86m² and Korean pyeong 3.305785m². It uses US gallon 3.78541L and US fluid ounce 0.0295735L, not Imperial units. Results retain the original six-decimal rounding, so a very small value may display as 0. Consider these differences when comparing with the NIST conversion table. The calculation constants and display behavior were checked on 2026-10-31. Use official factors for precision measurement.

Displayed results are approximate and rounded to 6 decimal places. Check official factors for precision or regulated measurements. Korean customary units, including geun and property-area labels, can vary with the product or context.

FAQ

How many grams are in a Korean don or geun?

This converter uses 1 Korean don = 3.75g and 1 Korean geun = 600g, the meat-trade model. Choose weight to convert either to grams or kilograms. A vegetable geun may use 400g or another product-specific convention; the converter does not switch to that value automatically. These are Korean customary units, not a local convention for every country.

How do I convert inches to centimeters?

1 inch is exactly 2.54cm. In the length category, select inches as the source unit and centimeters, millimeters or meters as the destination. Enter the dimension to see the converted value immediately, for example when checking clothing sizes or monitor dimensions.

What is the Fahrenheit-to-Celsius formula?

Celsius = (Fahrenheit − 32) × 5/9. For example, 98.6°F converts to 37°C, and 72°F is about 22°C. The temperature category also converts Kelvin, using 273.15K = 0°C. Results update when the input or either temperature unit changes.

How can pounds-to-kilograms conversion help with shipping?

The tool uses 1 pound (lb) ≈ 0.453592kg. When a forwarding service gives parcel weight in pounds, select lb in the weight category and convert to kg before checking the carrier’s tariff. This changes the weight unit; it does not calculate shipping charges or dimensional weight.

Does the tool save my input on a server?

No. Conversion uses your input and fixed factors in your current browser. The tool does not send calculation inputs to a server or save them. Reloading the page restores the initial example. This also means you can compare values without creating an account.
